ECLYPSE: What is your name, age, and where are you from?
Marcelo Silva Lara, in the music environment I go by the name of MarceS and I live in Chile, more precisely in Calama
What inspired you to produce/DJ and when did you start?
My DJ career started at the beginning of 2019, I was a common raver attending parties where my friends played. Living this experience and seeing how they played is what inspired me to produce and DJ as I wanted to be able to transmit the same emotions I felt through music to people!
I’ve always been interested in hard, industrial music and high bpm just improve that combination. My first step before putting myself at work was to scan the internet for videos of events abroad in order to find to find and learn more about the sound that moves me
Who are the Producers and DJs you are looking the most up to?
The DJs and producers that I like the most are my partners in the Chilean scene: 19.85, Aldes, Noork, Mary B, Bonek, Voyager etc…
I have seen how they all have worked hard to get to where they are, I like their music and what they produce, I admire their dedication and the effort they put into their passion
What are your expectations for 2025?
My expectations for 2025 are to be able to leave Chile and travel the world bringing my music across many countries, both as a DJ and a producer. And I also would love my music to reach more people thanks, to help build connections and eventually to land on internationally renowned labels!
Do you think Techno as a genre has evolved in the past years?
I think techno is constantly moving forward, with something new appearing every day. There are several sub genres that will allow the genre to continue evolving. All the producers in the scene contribute to this process by bringing unique styles so that the creativity level looks endless. This broad choice of content also helps getting close to new listeners on a daily basis
How is your local DJ scene?
Within the local scene in my city the styles brought by the DJs are quite diverse and make the offer wide and rich. Unfortunately, we lack the spaces where we can do what we love and express our art. I think we still need a lot of support to be able to build a true techno and emerge. Currently, to achieve this goal and be seen, we have to leave our city
