ECLYPSE INVITES: NAVI

For the 37th edition of the ECLYPSE INVITES Podcast series we’re back to Spain, a country that hides more quality than one could think. And we’re doing it with a young artist that has been steadily consolidating his path in the world of industrial techno with zero fear and all the love possible for this genre. He aims to convey the latter to you with the same dynamics experienced by him: brutal mixes that will leave without energies. Welcome to NAVI!

ECLYPSE: What is your name, age, and where are you from?

My real name is Iván Sánchez, but I go by NAVI (yes, it’s “Ivan” reversed). I’m 23 years old, originally from Spain

ECLYPSE: What inspired you to DJ/produce and when did you start?

I used to be a hard techno fan, but I hadn’t discovered industrial techno yet. About a year ago, I randomly found myself at an industrial techno party and it was love at first sight. From that exact moment I knew I wanted to DJ. I ulpoaded my first set in November 2023 and that same month I had my first gig thanks to a collective called Ravearanjuez.

The feelings this music brought out in me created a need to share that same energy with others, channeling my creativity and emotions into each track. It’s difficult to describe them all using only words because it’s an intricate blend that ranges from nostalgia to happiness, from intensity to calmness, and culminates with a sense of liberation.

A couple of months ago, I decided to take it a step further and learn to produce my own music, adding a personal touch to my sets. So far, I’ve produced four tracks.

ECLYPSE: Who are the Producers and DJs you are looking the most up to?

I owe a lot to some local DJs who helped me get started with DJing (TXME, GNX, and MJ). When it comes to producers, I draw inspiration from many, including DKOXY, MenaceAnnihilation, Farzaed, Markwon, and Sorenga, to name just a few

ECLYPSE: What are your expectations for 2025?

By 2025, I’m hoping to advance my production skills and, if I’m lucky, collaborate with one of my favorite producers. I’m working hard toward that. I recently had my first release for a label and I definitely want to get more I’ll also be moving to Berlin for three months, and I’d love the chance to DJ there sometime. This year I also had the chance to play for Underhell in Madrid, a collective that I really admire, so I hope to be able to continue in this direction

ECLYPSE: Do you think Techno as a genre has evolved in the past years?

I can’t say much about the evolution of techno, since my passion for it is still fairly new. All I know is that I hope everyone gets to experience what I feel when I listen to it. Its like traveling to another world, where it’s just you and the music.

ECLYPSE: How is your local Techno/Industrial scene?

The scene here is smaller than I’d like, but thanks to labels like NoSleep, Underhell666, and Insania, there’s a small yet persistent movement that’s slowly growing.

Thank you so much for accepting ECLYPSE’s invite, we are looking forward to promoting your music in the future on our label, we are honored to have you here!
