For the 34th chapter of the ECLYPSE INVITES Podcast series we present you with ZEV, an upcoming Mongolian artist who has started his journey very recently. Despite being a newcomer his name is already appearing on several labels because of the passion he puts into mixing
ECLYPSE: What is your name, age, and where are you from?
Hello, I”m Zev, a 25-year-old Industrial Techno DJ and aspiring producer hailing from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. For the past three years, I have made my home in Budapest, Hungary

ECLYPSE: What inspired you to DJ and when did you start?
My journey into the realm of techno began a year and a half ago when I began going to raves with some friends of mine. It took me some time to discern the genre that resonated most deeply with my passion, as I explored various events, including hard techno, psytrance, and groove/house.
An inspiring moment came in March 2024, when I attended my first proper industrial techno event—a b2b set by ØBLIVION and Sulfide at the famous D9 Dark Nine club. From that night onward, I found myself captivated by the raw, hard-hitting industrial sound and atmosphere, evoking emotions unlike any other genre could inspire.
In April, I borrowed a friend’s controller to dabble in the basics, initially just for fun. Not long after that, I uploaded my first set to SoundCloud. By June, I had the opportunity to perform at D9, in the very basement where I had my first rave just a year prior. The rest, as they say, is history
ECLYPSE: Who are the Producers and DJs you are looking the most up to?
I draw inspiration from a multitude of artists, but I would highlight Parapher, Sørenga, and Axciid as key influences in the sound I aspire to cultivate. I am also fortunate to personally know MARKWØN, RŌNIN, and A2XBY, exemplary figures among emerging artists known for their unique sounds and remarkable work ethic. Regardless of whether I mention them here, I am continually inspired by every artist I encounter within the scene
ECLYPSE: What are your expectations for the rest of 2024?
My aspirations for the remainder of 2024 center on maintaining the work-life balance I currently enjoy while striving for continual progress. Though the journey can be challenging, I embrace it wholeheartedly. My next goal is to begin producing, emphasizing quality over quantity, allowing myself the time and space to craft a distinct sound.
As I am involved with two collectives currently, I hope to organize more events and invite international artists to collaborate
ECLYPSE: Do you think Techno as a genre has evolved in the past years?
I can’t comment on this too much as I discovered techno only recently, but from what I’ve seen, techno and rave culture has gained popularity fairly quickly due to social media. I believe the demand for “instagram-able” moments affects the quality of music severely, with the crowd focusing only on the hardest build-ups and drops, or techno remixes of pop tracks having the most plays. At the end of the day, it makes sense why it’s popular, and I don’t judge anyone for enjoying it.
I would recommend people, however, to always keep an open mind to new, deep, and intriguing sounds as well.
Though my focus is on Industrial Techno, I often attend Hardgroove and Psytrance events as well. This openness to various genres has allowed me to draw inspiration from diverse sources and integrate those influences into my own work
ECLYPSE: How is your local DJ scene?
Budapest’s techno scene is one of the best, which I was quite surprised by. There’s an event, organizer, or venue for almost any kind of music you’d like to find. I love the variety that it offers. Many world-class artists come to Budapest to play here, so I feel lucky in that there are always quality events here. The DJs and ravers that I’ve met so far in Budapest are generally quite friendly and open people, so the supportive environment helped me feel comfortable as a newcomer. My circle here feels like a family and I’m grateful for that
Thank you so much for accepting ECLYPSE’s invite, we are looking forward to promoting your music in the future on our label, we are honored to have you here!
