Our guest for the 30th chapter of the ECLYPSE INVITES Podcast series is a very creative mind from the hisorty-rich city of Birmingham. You may have heard of her because of a bigger project she’s running, but we recommend you dig her production because you’ll find yourself immersed in unique sounds and patterns, alternating uncanny and overwhelming atmopheres. Exactly what you would expect to come from the hands of a witch. All, of course, including the strong kicks we all like
ECLYPSE: What is your name, age, and where are you from?
Petwitch is the name I use to share my artwork and I’m from Birmingham, United Kingdom.

ECLYPSE: What inspired you to produce and when did you start?
When I was younger I had a choral scholarship and as a chorister I learnt the basics of music: how to read it, about the lives and styles of different composers and how to use simple softwares like audacity. I also learnt how to play piano.
In 2023 I decided to put my musical background into DJing so I began mixing uptempo and hardstyle on an edj app.
At the end of that year, in December, I also started my journey as a producer by making a hardstyle track. From then on I experimented with ambient tracks and eventually found my place in industrial technoto with various [Eclypse’s opnion here: interesting] tracks. In summer 2024, I got my first DDJ controller from my best friend Wiki (thank you so much) allowing me to record this podcast for Eclypse! I was inspired to begin making more music through the work I do with the label I co-own with my other best friend Kevin: together we run Ostrom events
ECLYPSE: Who are the producers and DJs you are looking the most up to?
Cekta is the one who introduced me to this subgenre of techno via his Anthrazit 2022 podcast and through Parapher’s tracks I began finding more music. Among the many artists and labels I like, my current favourites are : Общество Молодых и Талантливых, SZANKA , scapeghxst, RÖSA, G3anxln, likikon , gulag, Ostrom, Eclypse, Noisia96 , MÖSARV, ghost collective, spxcepower.
ECLYPSE: What are your expectations for the rest of 2024?
My personal goals are to release an EP and work on more collaborations.
On a more general level I want to see Ostrom’s residents achieve their goals. Work on another VA and take Ostrom to new places. Finally, I’d really love to see more female artists making this kind of music
ECLYPSE: Do you think Techno as a genre has evolved in the past years?
Yes, take my city for example. 20 years ago there was Birminghm had its own sound and genre and it got lost with time. Through the events held by Ostrom, we helped to reintroduce techno into the city and we created a new underground movement here very different from the bigger commercial style events that are appearing all over the UK.
ECLYPSE: How is your local DJ scene?
Birmingham is the home of Ostrom – the techno scene here has been awakened and we don’t plan to stop anytime soon.
Thank you so much for accepting ECLYPSE’s invite, we are looking forward to promoting your music in the future on our label, we are honored to have you here!
