Good things come in threes, right? And since we started the month with two Hungarian artists, why not adding one more?
Here we are then, with this week’s artist: Sulfide. He’s a resident of Overdose Records and Ghost Kollektiv and he’s surely not scared of showing you why he became part of those two groups.
Join him in this crescendo of energy he created of us in the 26th set of the ECLYPSE INVITES Podcast series
ECLYPSE: What is your name, age, and where are you from?
My name is Horváth Dávid, known as Sulfide, and I’m a 23yo DJ based in Budapest, Hungary

View of Budapest from St. Matthias church
ECLYPSE: What inspired you to DJ and when did you start?
It all happened quite randomly, I was just a listener and the idea of being a DJ didn’t cross my mind. Then in 2021 I got a DDJ-SR controller from a friend and I started mixing purely for fun at home or at house parties.
Finally, it became a serious thing in 2023 because I was invited to play at my first club gig and this gave me a huge confidence boost. I don’t think I’m going to stop anytime soon.
Also, I’ve recently started learning the basics for production. It has been 4 months so far and I’m still at the a beginner stage but I’m trying to put in as much time as I can
ECLYPSE: Who are the producers and DJs you are looking the most up to?
The people I look up to the most are MMCCCXCIX, Parapher, Vrodak, Sørenga plus one of my close friends, Re:Vision. Of course I cannot fail to mention the whole Overdose Team, from whom I learned a lot and that allowed me to hone my skills
ECLYPSE: What are your expectations for 2024?
I definitely aim to grow more as a producer and be able to release more music
ECLYPSE: Do you think Techno as a genre has evolved in the past years?
I think it has evolved in good and bad ways, unfortunately social media plays an important role here and all the problems linked to it have badly influenced the scene. On the brighter side, though, there are a lot of good emerging artists with bring new soundscapes and that is pretty good in my opinion
ECLYPSE: How is your local DJ scene?
The style has shifted a little in the “tiktok techno” direction, but hopefully it will find a balance in the next months.
Sometimes it is a bit depressing as there are a lot of talented artists who don’t get a chance to play and share their sound, while people who started mixing to chase the fame are in the spotlight
Thank you so much for accepting ECLYPSE’s invite, we are looking forward to promoting your music in the future on our label, we are honored to have you here!
