ECLYPSE INVITES: NØBLESSE

As hinted in the last days, we are not moving away from Hungary. The landscape is rich in talent and we really dig with this style so if you’ve ever wondered why we feature so many Hungarian artists, now you know why. Hopefully you will get sucked into this loop too.
With that in mind let’s focus on this week’s guest: he’s the co-founder of OverdoseRecords, one of Hungary’s hardest labels and a very well known DJ in Budapest. He’s shared the stage with many heavy hitters such as Parapher and D|K|OXY and we can guarantee you he answered with the same level of quality and energy. Here’s Nøblesse for the 25th chapter of the ECLYPSE INVITES Podcast series.

ECLPYSE: What is your name, age, and where are you from?

My name is Kerekes Dániel and I’m a 23yo DJ and producer based in Budapest, Hungary.

Liberty Bridge, Budapest

ECLYPSE: What inspired you to produce and when did you start?

I, as many others, started with DJing first. It was back in 2021 and I was inspired by the fact that I wanted to show the world the music I had been making with my own style, which was only on my private playlists on SoundCloud.

Now most of my determination comes from the need of bringing an alternative to this fucked up tik-tok techno scene where fashion and trends rule. I will do so by keeping the same quality as before and staying true to myself and my ideas.

As for producing, I’m driven by the goal of crafting something that is completely mine from start to finish. I want to create my own distinctive sound and have my uniqueness, so when people hear my tracks they can recognize it. To reach that point I need to put in a lot of work as I still need to develop my skills. I only started producing in December 2023

ECLYPSE: Who are the Producers and DJs you are looking the most up to?

When I first started DJing Rot was the first person who had a big influence on me and made me fall in love with industrial techno.
Today, the artists who inspire me the most and whom I respect the most are MMCCCXCIX,PARAPHER, DRAAG, RE:VISION, SKOUTCHI99, NEGATIVE, UH, ALYA7H, PAYN, KAHAN

ECLYPSE: What are your expectations for 2024?

The first goal I had set for 2024 was to start producing, I released a couple of tracks in February, then I had the chance to release on some very good labesl such as Siblings Dystopian, Spxcepower and Kick Therapy Clinic. I also want to be more involved with our label OverdoseRecords and it would be great organise events again.

ECLYPSE: Do you think Techno as a genre has evolved in the past years?

I think it has evolved in various ways, both good and bad. A good number of new talented faces emerged, such as: Warhead, Walter, Ak47, VØLK.
On the other hand, social media and the wide exposure it brings has created a lot of “DJs” who don’t have talent at all, I would rather call them influencers

ECLYPSE: How is your local DJ scene?

What I can say for sure about the scene here is that it is horrible and sad. Every second person is a “DJ” just because they think it’s cool, but they have no humility and uniqueness, they don’t want to show anything or learn how to do things properly. They just want to ride the hype wave, and unfortunately these are the ones who are put in the spotlight rather than the those who have humility and respect and want to bring a quality product

Thank you so much for accepting ECLYPSE’s invite, we are looking forward to promoting your music in the future on our label, we are honored to have you here!
