ECLYPSE INVITES: KALASHNIKÓV

For the 24th episode of the ECLYPSE INVITES Podcast series we are back to a country that we really love and that keeps pushing some amazing artists: Hungary (you’ll keep seeing more from there in the immediate future)
Today’s guest is an emerging DJ that you’ve surely heard about in the last couple of months as he’s been uploading really nice industrial sets, welcome KALASHNIKOV!

ECLYPSE: What is your name, age and where are you from?

My name is KALASHNIKÓV, I am 23 years old and I come from Hungary.

A view of Budapest, Hungary

ECLYPSE: What inspired you to start producing and when did you start?

My very first inspiration came from listening to ABAT and his powerful sets. I was amazed by his way of mixing and going through different levels of energy, while also experimenting with tracks and moving a bit away from the fixed patterns of some techno sets.
This sense of freedom pushed me to recreate the same atmosphere and that’s why I started putting this energy I loved along with my own creativity. In every set I create I always try adding my personal touch and so far it has been a dream.
I’m still really new to this, I started DJing in February this year and my first podcast was called ORTHODOX MADNESS.

ECLYPSE: Who are the producers and DJs you look up to the most?

There are many artists I look up to, talking about producers I definitely need to mention Skoutchi, Negative, Draag, MXRC, WARHEAD, SAS, Yana etc. As for the DJs, I really appreciate amazing perfomers such as Vølk, AK-47, Parapher, ABAT, Kahan and Sorenga.

I owe a lot to the Ekip family, especially Vølk, MXRC and ABAT because they really helped me giving tips and advice and sharing their knowledge on how to mix well.
When I started practicing with my first sets they made me understand what to look out for in order to create a very good product

ECLYPSE: What are your expectations for 2024?

I will surely keep DJing, but I already know I’ll give production a go next year. I’m currently mixing bochka podcasts but in my own way, that is implementing disturbing vocals and paranoid sounds, similar to the style Parapher created.
You can find a perfect example of this in my new podcast MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS. There is where I really show my style

ECLYPSE: Do you think techno as a genre has evolved in the last few years?

I think tecno has evolved in all its nuances and will always do but Bochka has improved a lot more in term of popularity.

ECLYPSE: How is the local DJ scene?

I think the new hype and instant popularity pushed more and more people to become DJs. What these people underestimate is the commitment necessary to do it at a decent level. It takes a lot of energy and effort, a kind of effort that not everyone is willing to put in the game.
This is my dream so I’m highly motivated and I have a lot of energy to keep doing this for the rest of my life.

Thank you very much for inviting me, I’m very grateful and happy!

Thank you so much for accepting ECLYPSE’s invite, we are looking forward to promoting your music in the future on our label, we are honored to have you here!
