ECLYPSE INVITES: 2|HVY

This podcast will set a record because today our guest is probably the youngest DJ we will ever feature. But don’t let his age distract you from the fact that the guy is quickly finding his dimension in the hardest kicks out there. We had the chance to listen to a couple of his unreleased sets months from months ago and the differences in style and creativity are truly impressive. Get ready to experience his full power, 2|HVY is more than happy to show it for the 23rd set of the ECLYPSE INVITES Podcast series!

ECLYPSE: What is your name, age, and where are you from?

My name is 2|HVY in this scene, I’m 18 years old and I’m currently living in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Edinburgh, Scotland

ECLYPSE: What inspired you to produce and when did you start?

I have from young always had a deep connection and understanding with music.

My inspiration came from two close friends of mine, who had introduced me into the hard techno scene as they both were beginning to dj and produce at the time.

So I started researching to learn more about techno. I bought my first pair of decks (DDJ-FLX4) and at that point it was all set.
I had built a vision and I just had to follow it. I officially started in November 2023, by that time I had deeply fallen in love with the underground scene, I was first listening to industrial and started to give my own take on mixing it, then I quickly found my way to bochka where the passion grew more.

Compared to the hard techno I was listening to when I first approached the genre, it is a completely different world.
You really have to appreciate all the richness in the sound: the various layers that are going on, the crazy kicks and the dark ambient sounds you can create. Every mix, every track have a different story to tell

ECLYPSE: Who are the Producers and DJs you are looking the most up?

There are so many producers and DJ’s I all see as inspirations. However, if I were to choose a few, it would definitely be Gulag and FØGG because their heavy, dark take to bochka is some crazy stuff.

Warhead, Negative, Dumah, Vølk and petwitch are all other big inspirations to me as well.

ECLYPSE: What are your expectations for 2024?

My expectations for the rest of this year are to fully connect with the industrial/bochka world, both as an artist and as a raver. I would love to give myself a little more exposure and content to push out, have a few more podcasts and hopefully play a few more gigs. I also want to attend more raves across the world in order to learn the history and culture of these genres.

From the production’s side I aim to release more music. My very first release is coming out in August and I would like to get a few more released by the end of year.
After months of work, I have developed my own style and take to mixing bochka and I really want to bring my dark sound, the style that describes me, to the scene.

ECLYPSE: Do you think Techno as a genre has evolved in the past years?

Definitely, there are so many sub genres of techno that have evolved over the years, you’re bound to find the ones you love.

ECLYPSE: How is your local DJ scene?

The industrial scene in Scotland is slowly starting to come together, as more people are trying to organise events for its listeners and for those who want to experience a different kind of techno. You can notice how more people are starting to like the harder, dark side of it.

Thank you so much for accepting ECLYPSE’s invite, we are looking forward to promoting your music in the future on our label, we are honored to have you here!
