To end our most intense week, we present you with a young artist coming from Russia’s fourth largest city, Yekateringburg. It is the same city that hosts the headquarters of one of the best techno lables out there: URALHARDKICKS. This fact influencend deeply our guest’s approach to DJing and you’ll soon see why!

ECLYPSE: What is your name, age, and where are you from?

My name is Diana, also known as DIKN. I am 23 years old, from Yekaterinburg, Russia

ECLYPSE: What inspired you to produce and when did you start?

I started my DJ career in 2022, when I first got behind the mixer and CDJs and began to get to know electronic music deeper. It was a long and difficult process, but after a while I started releasing my podcasts on well-known platforms such as: «Techno Room», on radio «Dunkle Farbrone Techno», on Vladikavkaz «OHATIA» and the Bavarian label «Dirol».

Observing how other DJs make and play their tracks inspired me to take this to the next level. Now I’ve come to the point where I want to start creating something of my own, so now I’m focusing on making music . I’m still in the learning process but I already have ideas that I will surely implement to my works. Hopefully you’ll be able to listen to my releases soon.

ECLYPSE: Who are the Producers and DJs you are looking up to the most?

My main reference point at the moment is the well known Gostwork (one of the owners of UHK), I was lucky enough to have him as a teacher from the very beginning of my journey and he continues to be so to this day. I am also inspired by DJs and producers such as Doruksen, Deephellboy, CEKTA, 6ejou, Vrodak and some others.

ECLYPSE: What are your expectations for 2024?

My expectations for this year are to be able to represent the ideas mentioned above by creating new tracks and to collaborate with other well-known labels to release more podcasts. Finally, I’d love to perform at major venues

ECLYPSE: Do you think Techno as a genre has evolved in the past years?

Yes, it has. Techno and its multiple sub genres are very diverse so it is always taking different paths during its evolution process. It doesn’t stand still, it is constantly moving forward, in search of a new sound that expresses vivid feelings and emotions.

ECLYPSE: How is your local DJ scene?

Unfortunately, there are almost no places in Yekaterinburg where industrial techno parties take place. Nevertheless, they have a place to be, they are organised by the promo group Techno Room, where I recently performed. These are quite rare, but very powerful events. There are various small techno communities, for example, “Hardground”, which play hardcore techno. Basically, in our city they don’t give it as much attention as I wuould like, probably because it is an aggressive techno genre. They instead focus on a more calm, commercial sound.
