For its 15th episode, the ECLYPSE INVITES podcast series makes a stop in Germany and brings you the art of a young DJ called ZORN.
Enjoy the interview as he shares some of his main points of view about his musical world!
ECLYPSE: What is your name, age, and where are you from?
My name is Zappen, as a DJ I go by the name of ZORN. I’m 24 years old and I come from Bielefeld, Germany.

ECLYPSE: What inspired you to produce and when did you start?
I was inspired by two good friends of mine. I started in December 2023.
ECLYPSE: Who are the Producers and DJs you are looking the most up to?
The artists I look up to the most are Ziviler Ungehorsam, snutsch, Tituz and MenaceAnnihilation the most. Each of the four has a unique sound that captivates me again and again.
ECLYPSE: What are your expectations for 2024?
My expectations for 2024 are to play my first live gigs and to keep improving and learning about music, with a special focus to Bochka, and DJing.
ECLYPSE: Do you think Techno as a genre has evolved in the past years?
I think that techno as a genre has developed extremely. Thanks to the many sub-genres, techno has become more diverse and also more open to people who have hardly listened to techno before, if at all.
In my opinion, however, some sub-genres have developed too much in a commercial direction, in which techno is no longer seen as a culture or music as such, but only as social media and money.
ECLYPSE: How is your local DJ scene?
There are some good and talented DJs in my local scene. In most cases, they mainly play hard techno and vocal trance.
Most of the events in the larger venues are also based on these genres. However, there are also monthly events with other genres (e.g. industrial) and different DJs.
Some of the few exceptions in terms of genres are Ziviler Ungehorsam, snutsch and me.
For us, it’s mainly about Bochka, DJing and producing.
Our goal is also to bring Bochka closer to the people and visitors of an event here in Bielefeld and the surrounding area.
