We proudly present XØUJA, known as an Industrial Techno artist from Viana do Castelo PORTUGAL.
I have asked him a few questions with the idea of showcasing him as an artist for ECLYPSE.
ECLYPSE: Hey, could you please tell us your current city and country, age, and a small introduction about yourself?
Hey everyone, I’m known as XØUJA in this space, I’m from Portugal and I’m 21 years old.
My music taste went through a lot of phases and just now stabilized in Industrial Techno.
I grew up listening to hard rock during all my childhood since it’s my parents favorite music style, then I switched up to EDM when I started getting my taste in pre/middle school.
Later on, I started listening to rap/drill and finally only 4 or 5 years ago I started listening to techno, starting with the commonly known mainstream names and rapidly making my way through the low bpm and rave stabs to find the sound that I truly love: Industrial Techno.
One thing I’m sure of: my music taste is going nowhere now, I feel free with this sound so I´m going to stick with it and make other people feel the same way as me through my sets.
My enthusiasm for DJing appeared last year due to the lack of fast-paced industrial techno sets here in Portugal, so in July of last year I decided to buy my first-ever controller, my beloved DDJ-400, and decided to start recording all my practice sets, where I select the tracks on the spot without a previous playlist created, originating the “EarBleed Series”.

Viana do Castelo, Portugal
ECLYPSE: Could you describe your local Industrial scene for us?
It depends, if we’re talking about mainstream 155bpm Industrial, Portugal has a pretty strong scene, but if we’re talking about our faster and harder side of the genre, unfortunately, it’s close to nonexistent…
People seem to enjoy more Schranz or mainstream hard techno, or even hardcore/hardstyle, leaving the hard industrial scene a lot behind compared to other countries.
Just as an example: I’ve been to a few proper industrial raves in Lisbon with Parapher, SØRENGA, CEKTA and MMCCCXCIX (which by the way, are some of my biggest inspirations) and 50 people were raving while there were like 500 people waiting outside for the closing Hardcore/Uptempo set.
That I can recall, two main artists in Portugal are pushing this underground scene further: the one and only FRIK and his label Kursed System are doing wonders showcasing the hardest kicks out there, and my beloved friends WTDK.IN, a duo focused on Industrial sounds and dark atmospheres.
ECLYPSE: Could you give us a brief description of your set?
The main point of this set is the same as all my others: make you dance non-stop with a nasty bass face on and make you zone out for an hour, forgetting about stress and problems, while the fast-paced kicks and bass take you on a journey that only we can understand.
You can expect the usual: rapid increase in bpm, fast transitions, a lot of different tracks, and of course the hard kicks.
Thank you so much for accepting ECLYPSE’s invite, we are looking forward to promoting your music in the future on our label, we are honored to have you here!
